Right now I’m working on a first edition for a linocut I initially began years ago, but until recently hadn’t felt happy with a final design. I feel I am often working towards finishing images I began years ago, but that’s ok because there is a sense of accomplishment in finally pushing them through the printing press and across the finish line.

‘Snake’ is a seven layer linocut print which took about a week to carve out all the layers. The image size is about 16×16 and I’m printing them on 18×18 rives lightweight paper.
I’d initially planned to print everything in solid color, but have become interested in how gradients can be used to add depth. When I edition I’ll end up doing some of both .
Though I do allow 24-48 hours for the final layer I print to dry before printing black over everything, since none of the color layers overlap on this project I’m able to print everything up more quickly. I can print one color after the other without waiting for anything to dry.
